Connie Isbell Trustee

I joined OJHS along with my husband, Dick, when we retired in 1997– he from Sun Oil Co and the Oregon Fire Department and I from Riverside Hospital. Because of our interest in antiques, this was perfect for our community involvement.
My interests led to several roles and projects including role of president for several years. With dedicated volunteers, a mission was established: To preserve the past and to bring history to life. Many volunteers persevered and the results are a source of pride for OJHS:
Accomplishments during those years include:
– Converting the second floor of Brandville School to a military museum with over 500 artifacts
– Becoming a four-building complex
– Adjusting carriage house displays to include farm equipment and fire department items
– Remodeling Brandville to have two handicap restrooms and a modern food prep area

– Restoring and dedicating the WW I cannon displayed behind Brandville
– Archival storage of historical clothing and subsequent display of the clothing at four fashion shows
– Inaugurating semi-annual teas and annual history day camp
I am proud to have witnessed this period in the life of OJHS. I currently am completing my husband’s trustee term. It is exciting to participate in future plans to spark a love of history in our community, especially the children.
